If you are not sure what year your car is CLICK HERE to be able to tell what year your car is by looking at the VIN number. This number is your cars "Vehicle Identification Number" and every car has one. Sometimes it is on the very front of the dash (near the windshield) and other times it can be found on the drivers side door.

Installation 

Overview: Installing this interface will require you to remove your factory radio in order to plug in the vehicle specific harness (Included). Installation time should be about 30min - 1.5hrs. Even for a novice. If you install exactly as instructed below, you will not need your radio security code.


Step 1: Turn off your car. Take out the key. Ignition key MUST be OFF and key OUT.


Step 2: Remove the radio from the dash. Do not unplug anything yet.

Step 3: After you have removed your factory radio you will need to identify the approprite connector (20-pin pictured below) on the back of your radio. There will probably be a plug in this connector already installed. You will need to temporarily disconnect this plug (if equipped). Do not disconnect any other plugs.




Step 4: Connect the 20-pin connector on the included harness into the 20-pin connector on the back of your stereo. Then connect the 20-pin you disconnected in step #3 to the mating connecting on the other side of this harness. It becomes a pass-thru connection.



Ground the loose black wire (ring terminal): Then you will need to attach the ground wire to a screw on your radio. This is very easy, just either put it under the big rubber boot on the back of your stereo or tighten the ring terminal under a screw on your radio (to do this you would need to loosen a screw then tighten the ring terminal under it. This interface will not work at all if this is not grounded right. If you turn on your radio and it doesnt work, check the ground, and try a new grounding spot.



Step 5: Connect your AUX device to the RCA's on the interface.  We have included a Belkin RCA to 3.5mm (headphone jack size, even has a even has a recessed if your using a iphone) AUX cable (7 ft long) with the interface.  At this point just route your cable to where you want to plug in your AUX device.


Step 6: Test the interface, simply turn on your radio and press the CD or Disc button at most 2 times, this will open up the aux input port.  At this point, you will hear the music from your aux device thru your factory speakers.  Your radio will display Disc 1 Track 99 on its display.


Step 7: Finish the installation by locating the interface in your vehicle (its only 3" x 1.25" x 1.25" in size) and should be easy to fit right behind the radio. You can just put it back behind your radio or extend the cable out to behind your glove box or center console. It will be very easy to find a mounting spot for this, as it will fit in any tight spot. As for routing the aux cable, it is up to you to put it in the best place you need to hook up to your aux device. Please dont control your iPod or mp3 player while driving. Try letting the passanger be dj. Re-install the radio to the dash after a successful test..

How to use input 



Q: How do I select Aux Input as a source on my factory Radio? 

    

  • You can access your Aux input by Pressing the CD or Disc button at most two times (depending if you have cd's in the cd player or not) This will allow you to go into Aux mode.  At this point your radio will say something like "Disc 1 Track 99" on the radio display.  This display confirms that the Aux mode has been completely synchronized and activated. If you dont have a CD Player (or do not have any cd's in your player) you will press the CD button one time to enter into aux mode.  Without this interface installed, your radio will not do anything when you press the CD button two times.  However, after you install this interface it will recognize the Aux input.
    • 


Q: Can I still use the Buttons/Click Wheel on my iPOD/iPhone/mp3 player with this interface? 

    

  • This interface allows you to keep full control of the aux device from the click wheel at all times. You can browse files and change playlist on the iPod.  You can perform all functions of your device like you normally would.

Q: Can I control the ipod from the radio buttons? 

    

  • No, this unit will not display text either.  All text and controls are from the controls on your iPod/iPhone/mp3 or other aux device itself.

Q: Does this unit pause my iPod or mp3 player when I turn off my car? 

    

  • No, it does not.  You will need to turn off your aux device when you get out of your car unless it is wired into your vehicles system.

Operation w/ iPhone 

Q: How does this interface work with the iPhone? 

    

  • When you connect your iPhone you can use this interface the exact same way as when you connect headphones to it.  You will be able to listen to music and take a phone call. It turns your car audio system into a big speakerphone.

Q: How will they be able to hear me when I talk? 

    

  • You will need to turn up your microphone on your iPhone all the way. Then just have the iPhone out anywhere (within a few feet) and it will be good enough for you to talk at regular volume and the caller can hear you just fine. Make sure and have speakerphone off.

Q: Does the 3.5mm headphone jack fit into my iPhone? 

    

  • Yes, our cable has a reccesed 3.5mm jack for the iPhone. The iPhone jack is recessed into the iPhone a little further, that is why you need this special adapter.

  • This interface is compatible with all iPOD/Mp3 Players & much more.  It will allow you to plug right into the headphone jack and you will hear it in CD quality sound.  Just imagine your car stereo as a big set of headphones.  Now you understand what I am talking about.

Q: Will this charge my iPod or mp3 player? 

    

  • No this interface does not charge your iPod or mp3 player. It is only a audio input.
